Windowsill Gardening

Officially, spring will come in 28 days - on March 20th.

But apparently the sun can wait no longer. So I have taken full advantage of this & taken to gardening.

As I don't have any plants in my room, I decided to take a trip down to the local garden centre & pick my perfect indoor plant.

The place was filled with colour & it looked beautiful with the spring sunshine.

One of the more personal touches I enjoyed was the farmer's market nestled inside the Garden Centre. Filled with local produce & presented delightfully, there was a lovely variety of jams, vegetables & many other products.

After having a little nosey around, & debating whether to get a Paprika plant - I didn't as they grow outdoors - I found what I had been looking for. Kalanchoe Flaming Katy.

A plant I could keep in my room, which didn't require much attention & which looked beautiful.

I also bought some Carrot Rondo seeds for a windowbox vegetable patch - aren't they the cutest?

Once home, I planted my tiny carrot seeds & pampered my flower.

Fingers crossed in a few months I'll be using the carrots in a recipe post...

  1. Glad you've been having such nice weather! Hopefully the carrots go well, I've always liked the idea of growing vegies and fruits myself, but never tried it.

  10. Oh gosh, now i want spring too. The area I live in probably won't have spring for another two months (most of the snow is usually gone by the last of April, but that's just MOST of it..). I have a 200 square meter allotment garden not too far from where I live, there is a lot to be done with it this year because I didn't use it at all last year, but I'm excited. I desperately want to prepare and start cultivating, but it's all covered in about a meter of snow. Blah... I'll just have to wait! :)

    1. Wow that sounds like a lot of snow, I don't think I've ever had that much snow, it can be really fun at first, although I can see how it might be annoying after a while.
Good luck with your gardening once the snow has gone, I'm sure it ill go wellxx

  11. This spring is going to be formidable, I can feel it. This seems like a good way to shorten the wait! (Being Norwegian, however, I feel like spring has already started as soon as I see something green.) Have a nice weekend! Hug from Paris!

  16. I love going to garden centres. A windowsill garden is a great idea until it gets warm enough outside to plant everything. I can't wait to start growing my own vegetables.
